The story so far…
Invited by the academy’s Helen Lee, Team OB were prepped to chat casually with students about the scope of agency roles available; giving some real world insight into tech development, project management, digital marketing and so on, and so forth!
On arrival – a bit lost TBH and laden with OB swag – we offloaded and had the brainwave to hold a competition on stand to get students thinking. Asking ‘what’s your idea?’, we left a blank OB sketch pad out, ready to catch some creative nuggets from Tyneside’s future digital talent.
Ross and Graham then went off to run four agile workshops back-to-back (skivers), while I manned the stand for students eager to understand digital agency life. Conveniently for all parties, our competition provided the perfect conversation starter – ie. no awkward shuffling involved – as students enthusiastically entered ideas for handy life hacks, apps to improve the world, or tech simply for fun.
The App Factor!
Back at the office, Team OB have been voting all week for the idea they think is the BEST – from machine learning to find blind spots in technology to an app for finding where you last parked your car.
In Beers with Ideas this Friday (22 April), we’ll have an agency debate to whittle the top 5 down to a top 3. We’ll then invite our winners into Newcastle HQ to tour the office, play on the Oculus and talk to our devs about how they might bring their idea to life. Not bad eh?
*No beers were consumed by Newcastle College Digital Skill Academy students during ideation 🙂
