The Thinking Digital conference is often referred to as ‘our version of TED’. Bringing together some of the most prominent thought leaders and innovators in the digital industry, it has a truly unique atmosphere; making it the stand-out event in the Northern tech scene.
Successfully branched out to London and Manchester, in May, founder Herb Kim and team brought TDC back to Newcastle for 2 days of workshops and inspiring talks at the Sage Gateshead , as well as the famous Thinking Digital dinner (and OB-sponsored selfie competition!) and an after party at Eye on the Tyne.
Our own founders, Mike and Julian, have attended TDC every year since its conception and this year they were joined by myself (Holly Allison), John Shepherd (Senior Dev) and Paul Holland (Content Strategist). We enjoyed the talks so much that we’ve pulled together some of our favourite clips to share with the team.
In this Friday’s Beers with Ideas, we’ll be showing our personal highlights, including talks from Tom Scott – accidental Emoji expert and TDC favourite, Joe Faith – Product Manager at Google who shared its 3 key values when developing new and innovative products, John Thorp – a thought-provoking (and timely) talk on organisational change and James Murray – explaining how Bing plans to win the search engine war by decoding human context.
We’ll also be showing in full the show-stealing talk from Mikko Hyponnen, cyber war veteran and ‘hacker hunter’. A fascinating look at the dark side of technology and data, Mikko managed to take the audience from hysterical laughter to gasps of horror in seconds. You’ll never click the ‘Enable content’ button again!
